So much is going on this week and the next few, I’m in danger of having my head fly right off. So here’s a little update… please keep an eye on my grasp on reality over the coming days? Thanks.
1. WE GAVE NOTICE AT OUR RENTAL AND WILL HAVE TO MOVE IN THE NEXT 2-3 WEEKS BECAUSE #THEHOUSETHATWOULDNOTBEBUILT IS NEARLY FINISHED AND NOBODY CAN EVEN BELIEVE IT.

We thought we’d move out and rent for eighteen months or so… we’ve been here FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. The girl child turned three soon after we moved. She was TINY! She’s now a seven-and-a-half-year-old. The years, the dollars, the stress, the grief, the WHEN questions… I can’t even.
(Latecomers, this is the saga of the deco cottage we bought in 1997(!!) and years later was unsalvage-ably falling apart. We decided to knock it down and build a double storey Art Deco-style home in its place. In that time a heritage overlay came in and we’ve had to fight every single step of the way first for demolition, then to have our plans approved. Then we had to find a builder, architect, suppliers and tradies who would even touch it. Not. Easy.)
2. After a couple of pining years either missing out or making excuses- not sure which- this year I threw all doubt, doom voices and child-minding worries to the four winds and booked myself into the Emerging Writers’ Festival. Best birthday present to myself ever- and I refer mainly to the attitude shift. While I was buying my tickets, I noticed a call out for bloggers to apply to be EWF partners to cover the festival. I thought what the hey, told them a bit about myself and my l’il bloggy and hit send.
Friday morning, this:
SHUT UP!! Flattered. Thrilled. To say I am tickled is not even close. I’m bathing in feather-dusters, people. I don’t even care at this point that instead of desperately packing up house, I’ll be off to the CBD. For AN ENTIRE WEEKEND plus, camouflaged in writerly circles with free passes to report #EWF14 stuff and all. NO. WAY.
3. Back at the #housethatwouldnotbebuilt Mr14 lifted a spare roof tile in the yard to discover a chilled-out little reptile. A marbled gecko that strangely hung around, letting itself be handled and turned into a pet. So we went to the aquarium and reptile store, asked a few questions, bought some supplies and now Treecko the laid-back lizard lives in the boy’s room. Eating live baby crickets, blech.
4. Mr Twitch has new work and more travel coming. Which could work out in our favour this September, yes indeedy. 
Other things have not changed:
4. Tabitha the kitten is still stealth stalking and pouncing on Maxi the too-old-for-this-shit cat. Literal hissy fits are taking place. Charlie the dufus dog has to be tied up overnight or he pushes open the laundry door, releasing the kitten to play chasey up and down the bedroom corridor at sunrise.
5. Loombands are still taking over the girl’s room and threatening to kill my vacuum cleaner.
